Griddlers
Two types of griddlers or nonograms are most popular: black
and white (classic nonograms) and colored. In principle, the
special fundamental differences are not present between black
and white and colored puzzles. Therefore, at first we will
consider a black and white puzzle:
Puzzle consists of a blank grid with numbers on the left
side of each row and at the top of each column. Each number
defines the length of a filled-in block of encrypted picture.
Numbers on the left describe horizontal blocks in rows and
upper numbers describe vertical blocks of pixels in columns.
The distance between two separate filled-in blocks of pixels
in picture should be at least 1 empty pixel. The blocks are
in the same sequence as the numbers:
Thus, your objective is to solve encrypted picture using
number clues. You will need to consider all the rows and then,
all the columns. Let's consider the fourth row of our sample.
On the left there is just number 5 but a width of the picture
is 6. Therefore, four pixels in the center will be filled-in:
